That 70's Fish

Embroidering on a colored background is reminiscent of the fine art technique of drawing or painting on a colored ground. Here I chose to use a piece of my hand dyed twill as the background for this happy fish. He is surrounded by happy bubbles which fill the water around him . The coral is appliqued before being embellished with french knots and lazy daisy stitch. The frame carries out the aquatic theme with its beautiful blues. The avocado and gold reminded me of our home in Michigan, with those wonderful 70s colors.
